SAN JOSE, California, United States? The much awaited one-on-one in New York happened after all.
President Benigno Aquino III and US President Barrack Obama met for more than seven minutes after the second summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and the US at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel on Friday in New York.
President Aquino welcomed the development given Obama?s tight schedule and pressing domestic concerns such as the upcoming mid-term elections and local economic issues.
?It was mentioned that there would be more extensive bilaterals next time although no date was set,? Mr. Aquino told reporters at the HP headquarters in Cupertino.
President Aquino said their meeting lasted for more than seven minutes.
Aquino is on a week-long trip to the US to promote the Philippines to foreign investors. He also addressed the United Nations General Assembly last Friday.
