MANILA, Philippines ? Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) has announced it would start using its two-month-old Boeing 777 for its daily Tokyo flights, as the company looked to further take advantage of its newest and most efficient plane.
The 370-seater jet of the Lucio Tan-led airline will start flying to Japan next Tuesday, according to a PAL statement.
The plane will serve flights from Manila to Tokyo and Narita alternately every week. The new aircraft will serve the route together with PAL's Boeing 747 jumbo jet.
The decision to use the 777 for Japan flights reflected "the premium profile of the Japanese market," PAL said in a statement.
The Tokyo-Narita route is the second destination served by the 777. The jet has been flying the Hong Kong route since Nov. 26, 2009. It will also be deployed on the Sydney and Melbourne services by mid-March.
