MANILA, Philippines?Ten illegitimate Filipino children, aged from four months to four years old, arrived Friday from Kuwait.

According to the Department of Foreign Affairs, the children were repatriated to prevent the expulsion of their parents from Kuwait, which has very strict laws against immorality and illegitimate children.

Accompanied by Carlito San Diego of the Philippine embassy in Kuwait, the children arrived via Kuwait Airways. Air fare for six of the children was shouldered by the embassy?s assistance to nationals (ATN) fund; those for the four were borne by their parents.

Seven of the children came from the Filipino Workers Resource Center, two were from the Al-Adan Hospital, while one was from the Farwaniya Hospital, the DFA said.

After being welcomed by lawyer Enrico Fos at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, the children later met with Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo and Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Migrant Workers? Affairs Esteban Conejos Jr. before they were turned over to their next of kin.
