MANILA, Philippines?Venezuelan Ambassador Manuel Perez Iturbe was slightly hurt when his vehicle turned turtle along Edsa?s southbound lane past midnight Tuesday, traffic authorities said.

But instead of seeking medical attention, the foreign diplomat proceeded to his home and left his driver, Edmundo Vinoya, at the scene of the accident, said Senior Police Officer 2 Miguel Descalzo of Makati traffic.

In his report, Descalzo said that Iturbe?s vehicle, a BMW 320i, was traversing the southbound lane of Edsa coming from Ayala Avenue toward Magallanes interchange when an unidentified vehicle cut the official?s vehicle, causing it to veer to the right.

The incident occurred at 12:45 a.m.

The vehicle then hit a steel post and a pink fence of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority before flipping then falling to its side, Descalzo said.

But after the accident, Vinoya told investigators that Iturbe quickly boarded a cab and went home.

Iturbe?s vehicle was ?heavily damaged,? Descalzo said.
