MANILA, Philippines -- The body of a Filipina caregiver who died in the London was set to arrive in Manila Wednesday afternoon, said Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Esteban Conejos.
In deference to her family, Cornejos refused to disclose the name of the Filipina, who died of sepsis at a London hospital on May 13.
The Filipina had high fever since May 11 and was brought to the hospital two days later. She died on the same day.
A coroner’s examination showed she suffered from severe allergic reactions to hyperactive goiter drugs administered by her doctor, the DFA said.
Sepsis is a condition or syndrome caused by the presence of microorganisms or their toxins in the tissue or bloodstream.
The family of the overseas worker was considering filing a medical malpractice and criminal negligence complaints against the physician, the DFA said.
It has already instructed the Philippine embassy in London to coordinate with the local foreign affairs ministry and the police to request for a full-inquest and investigation on the incident.
