MANILA, Philippines -- No Filipino so far has been reported dead or injured in the strong earthquake that rocked China Monday and killed thousands, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Tuesday.

As of posting time, the DFA’s Public Information Service Unit (PISU) has not received reports of Filipino workers or migrants who were victims of the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck the city of Chengdu, in Sichuan.

Monday’s earthquake is considered the worst to hit the country in decades.

Reports placed the number of casualties at about 10,000.
