MANILA, Philippines -- The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has arrested three Indian nationals accused of kidnapping and repeatedly raping for several days a 26-year-old Filipina.
Arrested Tuesday at their residence in Windward Hills subdivision in Dasmariñas, Cavite, on the strength of a mission order issued by Immigration Commissioner Marcelino C. Libanan were Jaswinder Kumar alias Michael, Avtar Singh alias Omar, and Swaran Singh alias Jerry.
The suspects, who are facing charges before the Imus regional trial court, are being held at the BI detention center in Bicutan.
The affidavit of the alleged victim said she and her three-year-old son were on their way home to Dasmariñas when they were abducted by the three Indians April 5 last year. The woman said she was kept in a warehouse where she was repeatedly raped until April 26, when she and her son were freed after the three allegedly threatened to kill her if she reported her ordeal to authorities.
?More than just manning our country?s borders, we cannot more so allow that the dignity of our women be trampled by felonious foreigners who do not deserve any longer to stay in our country,? Libanan said.
BI spokesman Floro C. Balato Jr. said the three Indians will undergo deportation proceedings for being undesirable aliens but clarified they should first be prosecuted and jailed if found guilty.
?It is only after they are convicted and have served their sentence that we will deport them. after which they will be blacklisted and banned from re-entering the Philippines,? Balato said.
Balato added the Indians will be turned over to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) as soon as the court issues a warrant for their arrest.
