MARILAO, Bulacan, Philippines ? A new study on urban planning and development must be commissioned by the Office of the President to prevent a repeat of the massive flooding in Metro Manila triggered by tropical storm "Ondoy," Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. suggested Monday.
In a chance interview during his ocular in Marilao, Bulacan, Teodoro said that "the best urban planning experts" must be tapped to do the study.
He added that the study must be conducted immediately after relief efforts for the victims of the flooding.
The study must be initiated by the Office of the President so that Cabinet secretaries can participate, Teodoro said.
He added that a "cooperative attitude" from the public will also be of good help.
