TACLOBAN CITY ? The police arrested four persons allegedly belonging to a partisan armed group in a Samar town Monday afternoon.
Senior Supt. Manuel Cubillo, Philippine National Police (PNP) Eastern Visayas community relations officer, identified the four suspects as Doroteo Moloboco, 34; Oscar Duran, 49; Bernardo Diaz, 52; and Antonio Alimango, 53.
All four had standing warrants of arrest for murder issued by Judge Juan Daguman, presiding judge of Branch 45 of the Regional Trial Court in Gandara, Cubillo said.
Cubillo said on Wednesday that they arrested Moloboco inside the house of Gandara Mayor Antonieto Cabuenos in Gandara town.
The police arrested Duran, Diaz and Alimango inside their respective houses also in Gandara town, he said. The police also found improvised shotguns in the suspects' possession.
Mayor Cabuenos, in an interview through his mobile phone, denied that Moloboco was a member of a partisan armed group. He said the suspect was merely a political supporter who paid him a visit at his house at the time of his arrest.
But Cubillo named Moloboco as the leader of the partisan armed group that had been operating in Gandara and nearby towns for years now.
