Iloilo City ? Four persons died and six others, including a 2-year-old girl, were wounded in separate shooting and grenade-throwing incidents in two Iloilo towns Wednesday night, police said.

Two persons died and five others were hurt in barangay Ipil, Calinog town, 59.3 km north of Iloilo city when shots were fired and a grenade was thrown at the home of the Casabuena family around 9 p.m.

Supt. Ranulfo Demiar, information officer of the Police Regional Office in Wester Visayas, identified the fatalities as Roger Soliquen, 39, and Rosario Casabuena, 78.

The wounded were identified as Jose Casabuena, Lourdes Casabuena and children Lorex, 12; Lorie Mar, 9; and Louie, 5.

Citing initial reports, Demiar said brothers John Carl and Ernesto Castro Jr. approached Soliquen and Jose, who were drinking outside the house in barangay Ipil, about 5 km from the town proper.

John Carl allegedly shot Soliquen, and Lourdes when she tried to intervene. When she fled to the house after she was shot in the foot, Ernesto allegedly lobbed a grenade killing Rosario and injuring Jose and his children.

Demiar said the suspects fled after the incident. The investigators were still determining the motive of the attack, he added.

Less than two hours earlier at 7:30 p.m., two armed men wearing ski masks entered the Juesna residence in barangay San Rafael in Tigbauan town, 22 km south of this city, and shot dead Fausta Juesna, 69, and her daughter Joann, 32.

Fausta's granddaughter Mikaela, 2, was hurt. Her 12-year-old grandson was unharmed after he hid under the bed. Police requested that his name be withheld for security reasons.

Two other suspects, also wearing ski masks, had acted as lookouts, according to police reports.
