Cocaine sold in Eastern Visayas

TACLOBAN CITY ? The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency office in Eastern Visayas reported that cocaine believed to be part of the P2 billion drug cache found in the waters off Samar last December is now available in this city and in other parts of Eastern Visayas.

The PDEA is closely coordinating with different local government units and the Philippine National Police to conduct operations against those who could be in possession of the illegal drug, according to PDEA region al information officer Liza Baoy.

?We are now in the recovery efforts as there are reports of cocaine in Tacloban and in other parts of the region like in Samar,? Baoy added.

The fear of anti-drug enforcement agents that some unrecovered cocaine may have found its way into the local narcotics market was supported by the arrest of two suspects in Sta. Rita town in Samar who were caught selling a brick of cocaine.

The suspects, identified as Celso Tagle, 33, and Adrian Abrogar, 30, were caught last Jan. 9 in a buy bust operations in barangay Magsaysay, where Tagle lives, by the members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group led by Insp. Bernardo Lao.

The two were caught in the act of selling the brick of cocaine, tightly wrapped in a plastic bag and weighing about one-and-half kilos, with an estimated street value of P6 million. INQUIRER
