4 p.m. ? Ateneo vs. Lyceum

BACK-TO-BACK UAAP champions Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles will be aiming for a slot in the Elite Eight of the Philippine Collegiate Champios League (PCCL) when they battle the Lyceum Manila in the Sweet 16 stage of the tournament, today at the Ynares Center in Pasig City.

The Blue Eagles' blood rivals, the reigning PCCL champions, De La Salle University Green Archers will also be starting their title defense when they take on the feisty Letran Knights in the opening game at 2 p.m.

The Archers are considered to be the underdogs in this match with a team chockfull of rookies and sophomores along with a new head coach in Dindo Pumaren.

The Knights are also no worse for wear, with the absence of high-leaping forward Rey Guevarra, who is out with an ACL injury, forcing the wards of head coach Louie Alas to rely heavily on spitfire guard and Smart Gilas member RJ Jazul.

Ateneo is expected to run roughshod over the Pirates, especially with the presence of Rabeh Al-Hussaini, Jai Reyes, Ryan Bueafe and Eric Salamat.

Already in the ?Elite Eight? are the Far Eastern University Tamaraws and the San Beda Red Lions, who fashioned out victories over the Arellano University and the San Sebastian-Cavite. FEU trounced the Chiefs, 69-59, while the Red Lions annihilated the Baycats, 91-50.
