Highway robbers strike in Surigao Sur

MANILA, Philippines?Robbers took some P34,000 in cash from a liquor truck in Surigao Del Sur province Wednesday night, a police spokesman said on Thursday.

Chief Inspector Nelly Villagracia, Caraga police spokesperson, said that at around 6 p.m., two suspects flagged down the truck owned by Tanduay Distilleries Inc. along the National Highway, Sitio (sub-village) Cabugi, Barangay (village) Unidos, Tago town.

The suspects armed with guns then forcibly took the cash from the truck driven by Dexter Esperanza.

Villagracia said the suspects also took the wallet of one of Esperanza?s companions and a mobile phone, before fleeing toward an unknown direction.

The driver and his two companions were unhurt in the incident.
