TAGBILARAN CITY—More than 200 passengers and crewmen of the MV San Ramon de Bohol were stranded out at sea for five hours, as of past 7 a.m. yesterday morning, after the ferry's navigation wheel got stuck.
The ferry, owned by Lite Shipping Corp., left Cebu City port at 10 p.m. Sunday and was expected to arrive at Tagbilaran City port at 3 a.m. yesterday when one of its two navigation wheels malfunctioned.
Ben Rizalde, one of the shipping line's owners, told the Inquirer that the ship was currently floating seven nautical miles off the coast of Carcar, Cebu and Cabilao Island, Bohol.
The shipping lines has decided to call up one of its ferries, Lite Ferry 1, from Siquijor to rescue the passengers of San Ramon de Bohol but it has to pass by Cebu City port to load up on food for the stranded passengers and crew.
The stranded ferry will be towed by tugboat back to Cebu after the passengers are transferred to Lite Ferry 1 that will sail for Tagbilaran city. The pasengers are expected to arrive in Taagbilaran by noon yesterday. /Inquirer
