The actual work on the rehabilitation of the rubberized track oval of the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) will have to wait after the national and local elections on May 10.
Joy Young, city consultant on education, said there is no need to hurry since project already has an approved budget of about P40 million.
?There is no hurry, what is important is that we already have a budget. Work will be done this year but only after the elections,? Young said.
He added that after the approval of the budget late last year, they have been meeting with suppliers and are currently making the cost estimates.
Young said that a proper announcement will be made on when the works will eventually start.
The consultant, who is running for vice mayor under the Bando Osmena-Purok Kauswagan (BOPK), also said that they would also be busy in the coming months as local campaign begins March 26.
?And, we don't want to be accused of using the project in our campaign,? said Young.
Ricky Ballesteros, CCSC manager, agreed that there is no hurry now that funds have already been allocated for the track oval's rehabilitations, which he said could be done in three months according to the suppliers they have met.
The timeframe would also be dependent on how extensive is the work needed for the base of the track, which is very important.
Ballesteros said they also have to carefully choose the suppliers and make sure that they have a good track record.
