Clottey accuses Roach of being disrespectful

First Posted 13:16:00 03/12/2010

AS the fight date draws near, WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao stated in an article he wrote in Filipino for philboxing.com that he realizes the dangers of being over confident in his first title defense against Joshua Clottey of Ghana.

Pacquiao said that until his arm is raised signifying his victory, he is never sure of the outcome. Pacquiao also reminisced about his November 2003 fight in San Antonio, Texas when he scored an earth-shaking upset over Mexican legend Marco Antonio Barrera.

In that fight Pacquiao was a heavy underdog. Some betting stations even had the Mexican a 9 to 1 favorite.

But Pacquiao?s 11th round stoppage win that night may well go down as his career?s defining moment.

Meanwhile, in an article posted on the website modernghana.com, Joshua Clottey accused Pacquiao?s trainer Freddie Roach of being ?disrespectful.? Clottey said that the American trainer's assertion that Pacquiao will score a knockout only smacks of disrespect.
