THE local basketball collegiate scene might never be the same again as the Asian College of Technology Cyber Knights welcomed the latest addition to their solid squad, Clarence ?The Black Superman? Jeffery.

Jeffery, a 6-foot-2 wingman from the state of Mississippi in the USA, is a high-flying, high-wire act as was pictured in the highlight reel that was shown to the gathered guests during the welcome party held at the ACT Tuesday night.

He has been to the country in 2008 while playing for the Sports Ambassadors, a traveling basketball squad that is trying to spread Christianity through basketball. Apart from that, Jeffery has also played for the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils, an NCAA Division III team in the American Southwest Conference.

His latest visit though, is expected to be an even longer one as he will be part of the Cyber Knights, arguably one of the best collegiate teams in the south that is not part of the Cebu Schools Athletic Schools Foundation Inc. (CESAFI).

?This is a milestone in my life. After my last visit here, I did not know if I was going to be able to come back. I had no idea where I will be playing but here I am, and I know that this is not an accident. I was so excited to be part of the Cyber Knights that when Coach Tata (Merced) told me that practice was at 6:30 am, I was already there at 5:30 am. But I did not come here to just play basketball, I came to meet my new family,? said Jeffery.

On their own, the Cyber Knights of Cebu City Councilor Rodrigo ?Bebot? Abellanosa, also CEO and president of ACT, have made a name for themselves beating the likes of nine-time Cesafi champions University of the Visayas and two-time National Schools Basketball Championships champions Southwestern University on separate occasions.

ACT has been lobbying to join the Cesafi for several years but time and time again, has been denied due to the two-year moratorium on accepting new members in 2008. Cesafi commissioner Felix Tiukinhoy however, stated that the moratorium has been again extended, this time, for an indefinite period of time.
