YU RAM CHA of Korea crowned herself the 2010 Amway Cup Women's World 9-Ball Open champion on Sunday with an unbeaten run all the way to the championship match at the Core Pacific Living Mall Hotel in Taipei, Taiwan.
Cha nipped countrywoman and former two-time world champion Ga Young Kim, 11-5, in the finals to finally capture her first top-tier international crown.
Cha earned $20,000 for the win, while Kim settled for the $10,000 runner-up prize.
On the road to the finals, Cha eliminated Shu- Han Chang of Chinese-Taipei, 9-7, while Kim beat S. M. Chen of China, 9-2 in the semifinal round to forge an all-Korean championship battle.
The losing semifinalists, Han Chang and Ming Chen took home $5,000 each.
