THE PHILIPPINE Patriots will be facing Indonesia's Satria Muda Britama in the best-of-five championship series in the first-ever finals of the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) after the latter eliminated the Singapore Slingers with an 86-76 win in Game 3 of their best-of-three semifinals series last Sunday at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Satria import Nakiea Miller found his groove when it mattered the most as he scored 20 points in the second half to help his squad grab the crucial victory and arrange a date with the top seeded Patriots. Miller managed just two points to his name in the first half but came alive in the second half, coming up with one big play after another.
The Slingers had the chance to turn the game but poor execution down the stretch led to their downfall as the Indonesians pulled away late to earn a memorable victory. While Miller took some time to adjust to the pace of the game, his fellow import Alex Hartman carried his team on his back in the first half where he scored 21 points. He eventually finished with 30 markers.
The title series starts on Friday at the Ynares Sports Center in Pasig with Game 2 scheduled on Feb. 17 at The Arena in San Juan before the series shifts to BritAma Arena on Feb. 21. Correspondent Jonas Panerio
