THE SAN Remegio Beach Club?s veteran players towed the team to victory in the team event of the Cebu Tenpin Bowling Association (CETBA) Sinulog Mini Cup bowling tournament Saturday at the SM City Cebu Bowling Center.
The San Remegio Beach Club is composed of Tony Ynoc, Joe Chu and Rey Velarde, all veteran bowlers of CETBA.
Chu topped the individual standings and automatically booked a seat in the masters event's top 36 qualifiers.
Chu secured a total of 1,322 pinfalls while Ynoc got 1,133 and Velarde scored 1,247 pinfalls in the individual scoring.
Their team had 1,863 pinfalls in the first three games and scored 1,839 in the last three games for a total of 3,702 pinfalls.
The lady bowlers of the Las Mujeres team stunned their male counterparts after they placed second in the overall standings with 3,544 pinfalls, just a few pinfalls away from beating the champion team.
Inday De Gracia led the team with 1,254 pinfalls in the individual standings, which placed her in the third place while her teammates Vivian Padawan and Tess Regino also got big points during the individual standings. Padawan got 1,208 pinfalls while Regino had 1,082.
Chilen's Chicharon grabbed the third spot to complete the top three teams of the tournament. Chilen's Chicharon downed a total of 3,535 pinfalls in the six-game series.
The most awaited masters event started yesterday with 36 bowlers vying to fill up the spot in the sweet 16 second round.
Bonnie and co. placed fourth with 3,475 pinfalls while Powder Boys finished fifth with 3,428 pinfalls. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
