Games today:
Ynares Center
5 p.m. ? Alaska vs. Rain or Shine
7 p.m. ? Sta. Lucia vs. Purefoods
The Alaska Aces will get one more shot at righting their downward spiral and get the final automatic ticket to the semifinals when they battle the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters today in the 2010 PBA KFC Philippine Cup at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
The Aces has already had two chances to secure a 13th win which would mean entry into the semis with early qualifier San Miguel.
However, they have wasted away those two chances, first losing to the Purefoods TJ Giants and then, to the Burger King Whoppers last Wednesday, 80-87, dropping their record to 12-5.
After winning 11 of their first 12 games, the Aces have now lost three straight games and four out of their last five.
But the Elasto Painters are expected to put up a solid fight in hopes of spoiling Alaska's party and sending the latter to a playoff for the last outright semifinals slot.
Rain or Shine has already booked their slot in the wildcard round, thanks to the Coca-Cola Tigers, which defeated the Barako Bull Energy Boosters, 91-89, in their exciting match-up last Wednesday.
The Elasto Painters will once again lean on their athletic guards in Solomon Mercado and Gabe Norwood.
Alaska, on the other hand, must get more from former MVP Willie Miller, who had 19 points last time out but shot an atrocious 9-of-24 from the field.
Also in the hunt for that last automatic ticket are the Brgy. Ginebra Gin Kings, who finished the elimination round with a 12-6 record and the TJ Giants, who hold an 11-6 card and will be facing Sta. Lucia in the main game today.
The Realtors are hoping to secure an automatic quarterfinals slot.
