Pacquiao: I want to fight Floyd very badly

Super bout scheduled earlier on March 13 First Posted 09:09:00 12/06/2009

Superstar Manny Pacquiao has revealed that he wants to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr., ?very badly? that he has agreed to fight him in principle on March 13 at the welterweight limit.

Although some minor details remain to be ironed out, and no contract has been signed, Pacquiao has indicated that the fight should take place as the fans want it badly, and he wants it badly too.

?We agreed to everything in principle, but there are still some finer points that need to be negotiated,? Pacquiao told Boxing Fanhouse. ?Bob is going to take all of this back to Floyd Mayweather and then, hopefully, it will be all worked out. We believe that the deal will get done.?

Pacquiao also hinted that he wants to use 8-oz gloves for the fight, although there have been unconfirmed reports that Mayweather wants to use 10-oz gloves and fight at 154 pounds.

The reigning pound-for-pound star also assured fans that his hands and ruptured eardrum will heal up just in time for the March 13 showdown.

?I am fine. I will be healthy. My hand was only bruised, but there is not going to be a problem with it. Also, my ear will not be a problem. I know my body, and I would never do anything to seriously jeopardize my health,? Pacquiao said.

KHAN EYED AS PACMAN SPARRING PARTNER

Meanwhile, trainer Freddie Roach said that to prepare for Mayweather, he will use WBA junior welter champ Amir Khan as Pacquiao's chief sparring partner.

?We talked to Arum and he had the March date and May 1 available and Manny chose the earlier date because of the elections in the Phillipines, and I can't wait to get started,? Roach told Sky Sports News.

?It'll be the biggest fight of all time, the biggest pay-per-view event of all time and my main sparring partner will be Amir Khan.?
