THE NOKIA Pilipinas Under-16 National Squad walked away empty-handed in the 1st FIBA Asia Under-16 Championship for Men after they fell to rivals Iran, 73-83, in overtime in the battle-for-third place game late Friday night at the Stadium Bandaraya in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
The game was fought on even levels all throughout regulation but the Nationals finally lost steam in the five-minute session as they allowed their opponents to score 13 points while managing just three for themselves.
Sajjad Mashayekhi and Soheil Yousefi scored four points each, Mohammad Ojaghi added three while Amir Sedighi contributed two as Iran took control of the match in overtime.
Kiefer Ravena led the Nationals with 18 points while Yousefi topped Iran with 18.
Meanwhile, China took home the title after it capped off its incredible run with a 104-69 beating of Korea in the championship.
