Talk N Text overhauls 30-point deficit to stun Burger King

Don't underestimate the heart of the champion. Showing tremendous resiliency and perseverance, the defending champions Talk N Text Tropang Texters clawed back from what seemed an insurmountable 30-point deficit to shock the Burger King Whoppers, 118-105 last night in the 35th PBA Philippine Cup at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.

Leading Talk N Text's impressive victory was Mac-mac Cardona, who converted almost every shot he threw, going 15-for-20 from the field to finish with an eye-popping 40 points.

Talk N Text came into the game looking to end its first round of elimination campaign with a bang and that?s exectly what they did as they closed the initial round with a 6-3 (win-loss) record?good for third place.

Winner of two straight games, Burger King closed the first quarter with a huge 38-17 lead and padded this to 49-19 inside the final nine minutes of the second quarter.

Joining hands with Yancy de Ocampo and Jimmy Alapag, Cardona scored eight points in a crucial run that signaled the Tropang Texters' comeback as they chopped the deficit to just 10 at the bend, 53-63.

Cardona unloaded 18 of his total output in the first half.

The Tropang Texters turned the tide to their favor in the third by grabbing a three-point edge, 87-84, going into the final period.

The Tropang Texters remained relentless in the fourth, outscoring the Whoppers 31-21 to post the unbelievable victory.

Jimmy Alapag, Ali Peek and brothers Yancy and Ranidel de Ocampo combined for 48 points for the Texters.

Gary David scored 24 points for the Whoppers, who crashed to their sixth loss in nine games.
