JOHNNY ?Flying A? Abarrientos will not able to entertain his Cebuano fans as he begged off from an upcoming exhibition match against the ML Kwarta Padala Cebu Ninos on Nov. 26 at the New Cebu Coliseum.
The MLKP Niños are the reigning champions of the Zamboanga Leg of the Liga Pilipinas.
Abarrientos will be replaced by another Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) legend Vergel ?The Voyager? Meneses for the 12-man Legends lineup. No reason was cited for Abarrientos? withdrawal.
A press conference will be held this Nov. 16, 2009 at the Marco Polo Plaza Hotel in Lahug at 3:00 pm with the members of the competing teams.
The Legends will be headed by Purefoods head coach Ryan Gregorio and will be composed of former Purefoods superstar and current Team Manager of Purefoods Alvin ?The Captain? Patrimonio, Rey Evangelista, Bong Hawkins, Johnny Abbarientos, Ronnie Magsanoc, Victor Pablo, Joey Sta. Maria, Al Solis and Elmer Cabahug.
The Ninos will be spearheaded by Coach Raul ?Yayoy? Alcoseba and team owner Michael J. Lhuillier and will be manned by Bruce Dacia, Stephen Padilla, Ariel Mepaña, Woodrow Enriquez, Mark Ababon, Marlon Basco, Richard Ian Saladaga, Abby Santos, Franklin Nailon, Warren Ybañez and Mark Magsumbol.
Ticket prices are P600 ringside, P500 stage, P350 lower box, P200 upper box and P50 for general admission. Tickets are available at the Ayala Center Cebu Customer Care, Royal Concourse and at the New Cebu Coliseum.
