NOT EVEN A 10-DAY layoff could slow down the unbeaten Alaska Aces, who streaked to their sixth straight win via a dominating 87-73 win over the Burger King Whoppers last night in the 35th PBA Philippine Cup at the Cuneta Astrodome.
The Aces banked on their vaunted suffocating defense as they held the Whoppers to their lowest output in the tournament.
Prior to the game, Alaska is limiting its opponent to a tournament-best 83 points a game.
Willie Miller once again spearheaded Alaska's offense by firing 19 points. Reynel Hugnatan contributed 16 markers and eight rebounds while Joe De Vance added 13 points.
Ronjay Buenafe scored 15 points, Richard Yee donated 13, Ronnie Matias and Beau Belga pitched in 10 each for the Whoppers, who succumbed to their fourth loss in five games.
