The San Miguel Beermen, starring Lordy Tugade scored at will from the three-point land in the fourth quarter and eked out a, 93-77 rout of the listless Rain or Shine Elasto Painters last night in the 35th PBA Philippine Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.
What started as a tightly contested match turned into a rout when Tugade caught fire in the fourth where he dumped all of his 16 points.
Tugade accounted for three of the Beermen's seven back-breaking trifectas in the fourth where they outscored the Elasto Painters, 35-19.
Tied after three quarters of play, 58-58, Tugade scored seven in a 13-5 run that gave the Beermen a, 71-63 lead.
Another 14-7 run by the Beermen practically wrapped up the contest as San Miguel took an 85-70 lead going into the final three minutes of the contest.
It was the Beermen?s third straight victory for a, 3-2 (win-loss) card while the loss further pulled the Elasto Painters down the cellar after being winless in five starts.
Five other Beermen scored in double figures: Mike Cortez had 14 points, Dondon Hontiveros piled up 13, Arwind Santos netted 12, Denok Miranda contributed 11, while Danny Seigle cashed in 10.
Gabe Norwood and Jeffrie Chan topped the Elasto Painters with 14 points apiece, while Jay-arr Reyes and Mark Telan donated 12 and 11, respectively.
In the second game, the Alaska Aces stayed unbeaten by escaping the Sta. Lucia Realtors, 91-83.
