THE ART team of owner Art Arellano trounced Mang Inasal of Carlos Porras, 91-85, Friday night for its fourth win in five games in the 1st Punta Princesa Ball Club (PPBC)-2009, Vice Mayor Mike Rama Cup basketball tournament at the Vicente Sotto Memorial gym in barangay Punta Princesa.
ART took the opening quarter, 28-12 behind the hot tandem of Junel Villarosa and offguard Ronald Libre and padded it to a commanding 23 points, 53-30 at the half and 75-60 going into the final quarter.
However, Mang Inasal threatened ART in the 4th period after unloading a, 25-16 run sparked by the trio of Glen Besanes, Chito Hernandez and Carlos Porras.
However, time caught up with Mang Inasal as ART salvaged a six-point victory.
Rowel Sumalinog led ART with 16 points while Junel Villarosa and Keith Arellano added 14 and 13 points, respectively.
Glen Besanes paced Mang Inasal with 20 points, while Chito Hernandez and Carlos Porras finished with 33 points combined.
In the other game, Cebu Unique Trade of Ronel Tiu stunned JS Contractors, 90-86 for their 3rd win in six outings, while the Contractors remain stuck at the cellar with a, 1-4 card.
After a 24-all standoff in the opening period, the Traders waxed hot in the second as Fritz Sullano and Lister Libre put together one of their best defensive efforts that gave the Traders a 4-point lead, 43-39 at halftime and further widened it to, 67-59 heading into the final canto.
Louie Navarro scattered a game-high 22 points to lead Cebu Unique Trade, while Rolly Catubig backed with 16 points.
Reginald Taborada paced JS Contractors with 25 points, while Mat Vallejo and Titing Piliotas got 18 and 14 points, respectively.
