WITH one more leg to go in the Philippine Autocross Championship series, it seems that Cebuano racing legend David G. Lim (DGL) of the DGL Motorsports team will walk away with the coveted Driver of the Year award.
After dominating the fourth leg of the series held at the Parkmall west open parking area last weekend, the multi-titled racer has garnered 36 points to put him way ahead in the overall standings.
His closest pursuer is Mato Tan, who also belongs to the powerhouse DGL Motorsports team. But Tan will have a difficult time catching up with DGL, who holds a very comfortable lead.
In fact, DGL thinks he could still walk away with the crown even if he doesn’t compete in the final leg.
But DGL confirmed that he will still compete in the final leg, tentatively set next month, and hopefully finish the year with a bang.
DGL has dominated every leg of the series except for the second leg, which was won by No Care Racing’s Jong King.
DGL, using his tried-and-tested Honda CRX, won eight of the total nine titles the team won in the fourth leg. He also logged the fastest time in the race at 1:05.33.
“I think there’s no way anyone’s going to catch up with me (in the Driver of the Year race), said DGL. copy editor brian j. ochoa
