FIRST CONFERENCE champions University of Sto. Tomas Tigresses (UST) guns for its fifth straight victory when they tangle with the Ateneo Lady Eagles today in the 6th Shakey's V-League at the Arena in San Juan City.

The Tigresses have so far been untouchable in four games, beating Adamson, Far Eastern University, Lyceum and the University of the Philippines. A victory over Ateneo today will give UST the first seat in the quarterfinals. But the Lady Eagles are raring to prove their worth on a team built around veterans Ave Paje, Bea Pascual, Kara Acevedo, Dzi Gervacio, Misha Quimpo, Fille Cainglet, Grech Ho and guest player and former top hitter Charo Soriano.

Skipper Aiza Maizo, the current scoring leader with a 57-point aggregate after four games, including 47 spikes, is again expected to lead UST along with Angeli Tabaquero, Rhea Dimaculangan, Hanna Mance, Maru Banaticla, Roxanne Pimentel and Maika Ortiz in what promises to be a slambang encounter between two of the league?s most talented teams.

All eyes will also be set on the San Sebastian Lady Stags and the St. Benilde Lady Blazers who battled one another for the NCAA title over the weekend.San Sebastian retained the championship but not after a big scare from a much-improved St. Benilde, which forced the Recoletos-based team to a deciding third game.
