Even if it is just an exhibition, interest in seeing Japeth Aguilar play against the Burger King Whoppers is enough to make the match a top draw.

Aguilar, the controversial US-trained rookie, will again try to prove his worth against the Whoppers in a triple-header Friday offering of the 35th PBA Philippine Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

Aguilar marked his PBA debut with Burger King last Sunday, finishing with 10 points, nine boards and one blocked shot in the Whoppers' 80-93 loss to the Purefoods Tender Giants.

Right after the game, Burger King announced that it was letting go of Aguilar.

Aguilar was traded first to Barako Bull, which then shipped the 6-foot-9 cager to Talk N Text. The Tropang Texters then gave Aguilar away to Gilas Team.

Aguilar was tabbed as the No. 1 overall pick in the Rookie Draft by Burger King. The young cager, however, initially refused to sign with the team but eventually gave in and signed a one-year pact.

However, Aguilar's first game with Burger King last Sunday proved to be his first and last when the Whoppers pulled off the trade.

RP Gilas will be playing 10 games in the Philippine Cup before embarking on a series of tournaments abroad. The result of their games against the 10 PBA regular teams will not be counted in the standings.

Just like Aguilar, veteran forward Dennis Espino will also face his former team when the Coca-Cola Tigers play the Sta. Lucia Realtors in the second game while facing off in the main game are the defending champions Tropang Texters and the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.

The Tigers acquired Espino in the off-season to fill the void vacated by Nic Belasco, who is now with the Texters.
