The University of Cebu (UC) powered Unit Five to the top of the athletics competition of the 19th Cebu City Olympics at the Cebu City Sports Center.
The powerhouse Webmasters athletics team ruled the secondary and tertiary divisions, keeping their traditional dominance in the event.
The Webmasters won 16 events in the secondary level and nine in the tertiary division.
Sarah Mae Napoles led UC with three gold medals from long, triple and high jump competitions
Prince Harry Laput, Leslie May Abad, Kenneth Manzon and Jee ann Racoma and Vlessica Jagna chipped in a combined 10 gold medals for UC, the major contributor for Unit Five.
Other gold medalists were Roy Villahermosa, Edzel Ardiente, Deysy Mae Lawas and Carmela Quijano for the secondary level.
Unit Nine, powered by athletes from the Abellana National School (ANS), finished with three gold medals in the discus throw, javelin throw and 100/110 hurdles.
Unit Four placed first in elementary athletics after winning nine events for 13 gold medals overall.
Meanwhile, ANS and Paref Springdale forged a championship showdown in secondary football after beating their respective semifinal foes.
ANS outscored Blessed John Seminary, 5-0, in their semifinal match aas Prince Anthony nailed two goals for ANS while Jay-ar Castillano, Shaq Abadia and Aljer Montaire chipped in a goal each.
Paref Springdale's Christopher Go, on the other hand, scored the lone goal in their 1-0 victory against Don Bosco in the other semifinal showdown.
Action in other sporting events continue today while the awarding ceremonies will be held tomorrow.
