MINGLANILLA made known its intention for the overall title as it claimed the championships in the Cluster 1 competition of the 5th Governor Gwen Garcia Unity Volleyball Cup last weekend at the Sibonga Sports Complex in Sibonga in the southern part of Cebu.
The volleybelles of Minglanilla finished their assignments without a hitch and wound up with an immaculate 5-0 (win-loss) record. They defeated Dalaguete 25-12, 25-22 and followed it up with a convincing 25-6, 25-18 beating of San Fernando.
They also emerged victorious over Sibonga in three sets, 25-13, 15-25, 25-11 and then Alcoy, 25-16, 25-16, and finished it off with a victory via default ovr Argao.
Their men counterparts also debuted in style as they refused to be outdone and claimed a 4-0 record. They upended Dalaguet, 25-12, 25-11 and then added another win via forfeiture over Argao. Their last two wins came at the expense of Sibonga, 25-15, 30-28; and San Fernando, 25-13, 25-13.
