MANILA, Philippines?Lyceum of the Philippines eyes to stretch its dominance in two sports, with the Lady Pirates targeting a fourth straight basketball title and a 10th consecutive volleyball crown at the 40th Women?s National Collegiate Athletic Association (WNCAA) tournament today at the St. Scholastica?s College gym.

In contrast, La Consolacion College Manila and University of Asia and the Pacific will gun for their first ever WNCAA championship in the Senior B basketball and volleyball title series, respectively.

Lyceum drew first blood in the basketball finals, whipping College of St. Benilde, 52-42, in Game 1 of their championship series.

It was the Lady Pirates? second win over the Lady Blazers this season and seventh overall in as many starts. Game 2 starts at 10:30 a.m.

?We won?t have extra-special preparations for Game 2,? said Lyceum coach Aileen Lebornio. ?We?ll just play our usual game, give 101-percent effort and be ready for St. Benilde?s comeback plans.?

Lyceum, which has been plowing through the Senior A volleyball field, also aims to wrap-up the championship crown when it battles Rizal Technological University at 2:30 p.m.

The Lady Pirates have flashed a mean form in the tournament?they have not dropped a set so far in their past seven games. In the finals opener against RTU, Lyceum prevailed, 25-21, 29-27, 25-17.

In Senior B basketball, La Consolacion sets its sights on a maiden crown against UA&P at 9 a.m. The Blue Royals barely won Game 1, 58-57, and will rely anew on big games from Hazel Mangabat, Katrine Catalan, Dona Mae Espino and Joanna Licuanan.

UA&P goes for the Senior B volleyball plum against Centro Escolar U at 1 p.m. The Dragons beat the Scorpions last Sunday, 25-15, 19-25, 25-22, 25-9.
