Organizers of the 2009 OZR Grand Prix cracked the whip on the Cañeda Racing Team, which was barred from joining the competition's upcoming 4th leg in Danao City on Sunday.
?Some of their members violated some rules during the third leg. Some of them were even drunk during the race, which is an outright violation,? said organizer Zandro Fajardo.
Fajardo said a member of the Cañeda Racing Team even engaged him in a heated verbal tussle.
?He was whining about something. I told him to just file a formal protest but refused and even tried to attack me,? said Fajardo, who refused to divulge the name of the rider.
Fajardo said it was not the first time that the team was reprimanded because of rowdiness.
?In the first leg, some of their members were rowdy and we gave them a warning for that. They did it again in the third leg and we have no choice but to suspend them to restore order in our races,? said Fajardo.
Fajardo added that suspending CRT should serve as a warning to other riders that they should behave during races.
Fajardo said CRT will still be allowed to join in next year's race ?as long as they strictly follow our rules.?
The OZR 4th leg dubbed the Danao City Mayor's Cup was formally launched last Wednesday night at the Yayoy's Grill.
Categories to be competed in are the 110cc beginner's super stock, 125cc beginner's super stock, automatic mix (nouvo-mio), 110-125cc novice open and 110-150cc expert open.
The race will also have a separate division for Danao residents.
Interested participants may register at the OZ Racing stores along Arch Bishop Reyes Avenue, Cebu City and in Parkmall in North Reclamation Area, Mandaue City.
The race is supported by the Danao City Sports Commission, Motul, Parkmall, Yamaha and Norkis.
