POOL MAESTRO EFREN ?BATA? Reyes, Dennis Orcollo and Ronnie Alcano will try to replicate their international successes on local soil when they see action in the 10th leg of The Manny Villar Cup on Aug. 21 to 23 at the NCCC Mall in Davao City.

Reyes, a billiards Hall of Famer; Orcollo, the former world No. 1; and Alcano, a two-time world champion, have yet to win in the island-hopping series. They will face stiff competition again in the event serving as part of the Kadayawan Festival.

Out to frustrate them are resurgent Rodolfo ?Boy Samson? Luat, the only two-leg winner in the series with victories in Bacolod and Iloilo, and defending champion Roberto Gomez.

Other title-contenders in the event being supported by Camella Communities are leg winners Warren Kiamco (Alabang), Ramil Gallego (Bulacan), Francisco ?Django? Bustamante (Baguio-Panagbenga) and Lee Van Corteza (Calabarzon).

?We?re very happy and thankful to Senator Villar for heeding our clamor to bring the Villar Cup back here,? said Gandy Valle, a former Asian Games gold medalist.

Valle, who won the Cebu leg in June 2008, finished runner-up to Gomez in last year?s Kadayawan edition.
