The nightmare continued for the Cebu Eastern College (CEC) Dragons as they once again became easy prey for one of the mighty squads in the juniors division of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) basketball tournament.
But this time, the beating was even worse.
If the 131-point shellacking that they received at the hands of the defending champions University of Cebu (UC) Baby Webmasters was not humiliating enough, CEC was in for a rude awakening as they were completely obliterated by a whopping 155 points, after they were defeated, 23-178, by the University of the Visayas (UV) Baby Lancers yesterday at the Cebu Coliseum.
For the second time this season, the Dragons entered the record books as the recipients of the largest deficit in league history. The first time was when they got demolished by UC, 28-159.
Yesterday's match was even worse as they fell by 51 points in the first period by allowing the Baby Lancers to score 54 points while scoring just three of their own.
Halftime was no better as they were already behind by 76 points, 87-11 courtesy of UV's unrelenting full court pressure defense.
A four-point output in the third canto by CEC further deepened the wound as they now were staring a 115-point deficit heading into the final period before the game mercifully ended.
Francisco Arong led UV's charge with 39 points while Vincent Mendoza added 24 markers as five Baby Lancers scored in double figures. Nobody scored in double digits for the Dragons. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
