GRANDMASTER Wesley So leads the cast of participants in the 2nd Mayor Florencio Bernabe Paranaque Open Chess set Aug. 15 and 16 at the SM Sucat Activity Center in Paranaque City.
So, along with last year?s Bernabe Open champion and fellow GM Darwin Laylo, is coming from a successful stint in the Zone 3.3 Chess Championships in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
The duo won two slots to this year?s World Chess Cup in Khanti-Mansiyk, Russia set on November. They will join GM Rogelio ?Joey? Antonio Jr. in the main draw.
The champion in this two-day tournament will receive P30,000.
Other woodpushers who signified their intentions to play include FMs Mirabeau Maga, Efren Bagamasbad, Adrian Ros Pacis, NMs Ronald Llavanes, Rustum Tolentino, Allan Sasot, Eduardo Agagon and non-masters Dr. Jenny Mayor, Danilo Maliam and Dasmarinas-Cavite Players, Padua Brothers - Einstein and Cecil, Romeo Mateo, Carlo Davila, Roland Roselada, Ateneo Team of IM Ildefonso Datu, FEU Team of GM Jayson Gonzales and De La Salle Lipa.
