The Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws will be gunning to forge a three-way tie for second place in the standings when they face the Adamson Soaring Falcons today in the 72nd season of the UAAP basketball tournament at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
Touted by most pundits to be the top squad in the league today, the Tamaraws are expected to run roughshod over the Falcons with their highly-regarded core of players, who has spent considerable time honing their skills with the RP Smart Gilas developmental squad.
These are speedy guard Mark Barroca, high-leaping wingman JR Cawaling and versatile big man Aldrech Ramos.
Barroca scored 15 points in their 65-51 win over the De La Salle University Green Archers but he was not alone in his dominance as rookie guard RR Garcia and burly enforcer Reil Cervantes also stepped up with commendable performances. Garcia had 12 points while Cervantes added 11 markers. Cawaling also scored in double-figures with 10 points.
Adamson is also coming off an impressive win after they eked past the University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons, 72-68. Cebuano forward Jan Colina, formerly of the University of Cebu (UC) Baby Webmasters, had his second double-double in as many games with 14 points and 12 rebounds. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
