Bartolo, Delos Santos win in STAA Fun Run

Elmer Bartolo and Mary Grace delos Santos once again showed why they are the top runners in Cebu as both ruled the 5k Open category of the St. Theresa’s College Alumnae Association (STAA) fun run dubbed “Smart Move with Air” yesterday at the STC grounds in Mango Avenue, Cebu City.

Bartolo dominated the men’s open by clocking 18 minutes and 32.80 seconds while Delos Santos topped the women’s side with a time of 21:41.72.

Joel Delposo finished second to Bartolo with a time of 18:46.92 while Ian Bernido wound up third (19:03.65).

Completing the top 10 in the men’s race are Robert Daang (20:24.63), Jude Rivera (21:06.70), Jesus Baarli (21:15.75), Allan Polinar (21:35.85), Raul James Zapico (21:57.83), James Janzel Noval (22:54.77) and Ruth Banzon (22:58.63).

Haziel Ritavalle, meanwhile, was runner-up to delos Santos in the women’s category with a time of 21:01.48. Gerly Rose Baylon settled for third place after clocking 26:57.43.

Completing the top ten in the women’s side are Pearl Angeli Templado (27:31.32), Ana Marie Cabahug (32:22.06), Florence Mata (33.31.90), Rosebelle Baldecieso (34:19.30), Roweba Duarte (35:21.32), Susana Militante (36:51.92) and Abbey Ponce (37:09).

In the executive class-men’s class, Carlos Baguio emerged champion followed by Joseph Canete and Steve Jao.

Milagrosa Pablo topped the executive-women’s class followed by Amale Mendozona-Jopson and Lirio Omalon.

In the STC Alumnae 3k run, Atty. Haide Acuña ruled was crowned champion while Donna Buganin and Gemma Pido finished second and third, respectively.

The 3k women open was won by Veronica Daag followed by Erica Daag and Shannah Lopez.

Over a thousand runners joined the race, which is the opening salvo for the Class 1984 Alumni homecoming celebration.

The proceeds of the race will be given to the Cebu City Medical Center Hospital (CCMC) Medical Indigence Project, College Scholarship and Student Assistant Program, Livelihood Project in Basic Dress Making, Website and the Electronic Chronicler Project, the Happy Child Literacy Program and the Panginabuhi.
