THE JOSE Rizal University (JRU) Heavy Bombers will be gunning for the solo leadership in the standings when they take on guest team Arellano University Chiefs in the 85th NCAA basketball tournament today at the Arena in San Juan City.
Touted to be the solid contenders to the crown currently held by the three-time champions San Beda Red Lions, the Heavy Bombers have lived up to earlier expectations after winning their first three games, the latest one being an 83-69 destruction of the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals.
They will be aiming to wrest the solo leadership in the standings and break away from the tie that they are in with San Sebastian College-Recoletos Stags.
The Chiefs on the other hand, will be trying to get back on the winning track after they were seriously derailed by the Red Lions in their last game.
After flying high with two straight wins in their NCAA debut, the Chiefs were brought down to earth by the champions in convincing fashion, 74-102. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
