GINEBRA threw the first punch. It's San Miguel's turn to throw the counter attack.
The defending champions Kings try to go up 2-0 while the Beemen shoot for the equalizer when they clash in Game Two of the 34th PBA Fiesta Conference best-of-seven Finals at the Araneta Coliseum.
The Kings drew first blood in the race-to-four duel behind a torrid shooting from the three-point land, convincingly winning Game One, 102-96.
"Naka-swerte. We shot pretty well at the start then our defense worked in the second half. Naka-sagot kami sa opensa ng San Miguel when they started to get streaks," San Miguel coach Jong Uichico told pba.ph.
The Kings converted 40 percent of their three-point shots in Game One with Jay-jay Helterbrand and Paul Artadi doing the heavy damage.
Helterbrand made four of his first seven three-point attempts in the first half, while Artadi buried three trifectas early in the game, allowing the Kings to zoom a comfortable 53-41 lead at the bend.
"We like that situation na maka-una. Baka hindi kami nakasabay kung sila ang naka start ng malakas," Uichico added.
Ginebra built leads of as many as 18 points in the third period before holding off San Miguel's repeated rallies in the final canto to post the easy win.
"We're not mentally prepared to play this game. It's not an excuse," said San Miguel coach Siot Tanquingcen.
