Cebu's Robert Allanic failed in his bid to win the interim WBO Oriental featherweight title after he was stopped in the second round by top Indonesian prospect Daud Yordan Saturday evening in Pontianak, Indonesia.
According to reports, Yordan unleashed several good power punches in the opening round, then dropped Allanic from several big right hands in the second, and finished him a few moments later with a shot to the body for the full count.
The fight was the first for Yordan since his two round no-decision with Robert Guerrero in March. Yordan was handling himself well when a clash of heads opened up a cut on Guerrero, who told ring doctors that he was unable to see out of his eye due to flow of blood and the fight was stopped.
Yordan has been calling for a rematch with Guerrero and also wants a shot at countryman Chris John, the WBA champion.
In the night's co-feature, Tagbilaran City's Ricky Sismundo battered Yordan's younger brother Yohannes Yordan for an impressive third-round technical knockout to claim the vacant WBO Asia Pacific Youth featherweight crown.
Sismundo, who trained at the ALA Gym for this fight, dismantled the younger Yordan with a barrage of punches, sending the latter three times in the third round to claim the win.
With the victory, Sismundo did not only improve his record to 14-3, 5 KO's, but more importantly, puts him in the map for a possible crack at a bigger WBO title in the near future.
