MANILA, Philippines - Pool maestro Efren "Bata" Reyes seeks revenge over fellow former double world champion Ronnie Alcano when they tangle in the Challenge of the Legends: The Maestro versus The Volcano" this week at the Annex of SM North Edsa in Quezon City.
The last time the two clashed in the 2006 World Pool Championship, Alcano booted Reyes out in the Last 16 and proceeded to clinch the crown.
?I think that was the only time Ronnie and I met in a tournament,? said Reyes, at 55 still one of the world?s most feared and adored players, in Filipino.
This time, Reyes hopes to turn the tables on Alcano, who has not won a major title in the last two years.
?No doubt Ronnie is one of the best players in the world today, and I know that he really loves to go up against me,? said Reyes. ?I?d like to get even.?
The match format is 15-ball rotation, which is the original pool game of Filipinos and where Reyes and Alcano are considered among the best in the world.
Reyes said rotation is a lot tougher than 9-ball and 10-ball because there are more balls on the table.
The race-to-9, alternate break event is presented by Sen. Manny Villar?s Villards: Tulong sa Pagsulong ng Philippine Sports in cooperation with the Billiards Managers and Players Association of the Philippines and supported by Camella.
