The San Miguel Beermen withstood the Burger King Whoppers' searing endgame comeback in scoring a 100-88 win in Game 3 of the best-of-seven semifinal round series of the 34th PBA Fiesta Conference at the Araneta Coliseum.

Import Gabe Freeman led San Miguel with 35 points, 10 of them scored in the final 3:31, allowing the Beermen to quell the rallying Whoppers.

San Miguel now has a 2-1 series lead against Burger King.

Freeman also added 16 rebounds, one steal and two blocked shots.

Freeman was extra hot from the field where he made 12 of his 18 attempts. He was also impressive from the free throw line by going 11-for-14.

The Beermen led by as many as 23 points but saw the lead whittled down to five, 82-77, with 5:30 left.

The six-foot-five Freeman took matter into his own hands in the closing minutes, scoring crucial baskets to help the Beermen seal the victory.

Freeman got ample support from pointguards Jonas Villanueva and Olsen Racela, who scattered 15 and 12 points, respectively.

Arwind Santos paced the Whoppers with 22 points, Cebuano cager Joseph Quiñahan added 11 while Egay Billones pitched in 10.

Shawn Daniels was instrumental in Burger King's 116-113 Game Two victory where he tallied a team-high 29 points but failed to find the same offensive rhythm last night as he was held down to just eight points.
