CEBU ONCE again shone on the national front after the University of San Carlos (USC)-North Campus took the championship in the Cadets category of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas 3-on-3 National Finals at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.
The team which was represented by 14-under players John Pajantoy, Rey Arnejo, Benedict Aliser and Tecson Gacrama and coached by Galimar Largo, took the crown and the P50,000 cash prize after they slipped past Bacolod in the finals, 24-18.
They made their way to the championship round after defeating Iloilo in the semifinals, 24-19.
Bacolod, on the other hand, had their way with Cagayan de Oro City, 25-14.
In the prestigious Elite division, Iloilo reigned supreme as they demolished Davao by the score of 33-17.
They booked their tickets to the finals after convincing wins in the semifinal round. Davao beat Cagayan de Oro, 25-22 while Iloilo defeated Bacolod, 22-15.
The Girls division also saw the Southmall eke past Fairview, 14-12, in the finals.
The champions in the Elite and Girls division also got for themselves slots to the 3rd Asian Indoor Games in Hanoi, Vietnam. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
