The multi-titled Garry Caneda Jr. tries to keep up his dominating performance in the expert division when he competes in the second leg of the Mayor Jonas Cortes Underbone Rally Cross Racing 2009 today at the Mandaue North Reclamation Area.

Caneda, who started racing last year, ruled the expert division in the first leg of the race last February. He will once again be the man to beat in the expert category, where he faces some of the best riders in the country. He will also be competing in the novice category.

But despite all the hype, Caneda remains cautious of the things that could happen in the race.

“I am not confident that I will be able to capture the title in this second leg but rest assured I will do my best,” Caneda said while taking a break from a practice run yesterday at the venue, located beside the Cebu Doctors’ University (CDU) campus.

According to Race Organizer Edsel Odulio, more than 40 participants have signified their intention to join. He still expects more to beat the deadline today, especially those from Balamban, Toledo, Car-Car, Dumaguete and Manila.

“Nagka-anam na ug kadaku ang underbone race. Grabe ang turn out sa riders,” Odulio said.

With the increase of the number of underbone motorcycles, Evvolve Marketing, the sole distributor of the PTT Lubricants and supporter of today’s race, said they will be ready to provide the best lubricants for these motorcycles.

The race features competitions in the Expert Class, Novice 125 class, Novice 110 and Beginners Class.
