AMATEUR Boxing Association of the Philippines (ABAP) president Ricky Vargas and ABAP incoming secretary general Patrick Gregorio will in Cebu today to meet local boxing stakeholders.
According to Gregorio, they will be flying in on a PLDT private plane after several site inspections and stakeholders meetings in Manila, Bacolod and Davao.
While in Cebu, Vargas and Gregorio will meet boxing patron Antonio Aldeguer, promoter Rex “Wakee” Salud, Dodi Boy Penalosa among others and and conduct site inspection.
Their last stop will be tomorrow in Bacolod City, which will be hosting the Grand National Amateur Boxing Championships (NABC) on Jan. 17-24, 2008.
Gregorio also confirmed the attendance of boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao in the NABC tournament.
The competition proper will run from Jan. 18-24, while an ABAP board meeting will be held on Jan. 22 from 12nn-2pm as well as an ABAP stakeholders’ conference from 3 to 5pm.
A fellowship cocktail will follow to be hosted by ABAP chairman Manny V. Pangilinan at L'fischer International. /Correspondent Iste Sesante
