Reigning national champion Marlon Manalo and Doha Asian Games 9-ball gold medalist Antonio Gabica of Cebu, will leave for Japan on November 18 to compete in the 41st All Japan Championship 2008 slated on November 19 to 24 at the Hotel New Archaic Hall Oct, 3-96 Showa-dori, Amagasaki-shi, in Hyogo, Japan.
?Sana malampasan ko ang third place finish ko dito two years ago,? Gabica told this writer in an interview over the weekend during the closing rites of the 2nd Billiard Stars Search at the Star Billiards Center in Quezon City.
The 36-year-old Gabica, the pride of Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, revealed that after the All Japan Championship, he and Manalo will compete in the US Pool circuit slated next month.
The All Japan Championship is an official tournament recognized by WPA (World Pool-billiard Association) and APBU (Asian Pocket Billiard Union), and is designated for the WPA world ranking.
The tournament champion will earn JPY2,000,000; the runner-up will get JPY1,000,000 while losing-semifinalists will bring home JPY500,000 each.
Fifth to 8th placer will receive JPY250,000 each while 9th to 16th placers will take home JPY125,000 each. Those will finish in 17th-32nd spots will each receive JPY60,000 each.
