Talisay City—Unbeaten young fighters Anthony Marcial and John Riel Casimiro face their biggest assignments so far as they take on two rugged Thai fighters for WBO regional titles at the Talisay City Sports Complex tonight.
“If they win, bigger things await them,” said promoter Sammy Gello-ani, who is working with the Golden Dreams Promotions and the Talisay City Amateur Boxing Association (Tacaba) in putting up this event.
Marcial, the 22-year-old fighter from Zamboanga City, boasts of a near perfect knockout record of 9 wins with 8 knockouts, goes into the fight with tremendous amateur background having fought in numerous international meets. A victory tonight will pave the way for Marcial's inclusion in the blockbuster Dec. 6 bout underneath the Oscar De la Hoya-Manny Pacquiao battle.
Rajanondh (17-8-0 4KOs), however, is confident he will put a blot on Marcial's immaculate record.
The other title fight for the vacant WBO Asia-Pacific Light Flyweight Championship will feature another local prospect Jhonreil Casimiro of Omega Stable who will go up against Thai visitor Liempetch Sor Veerapol.
Another exciting match-up of Junior lightweights, Rey Labao of the Dante Ortiz’ boxing stable of Las Vegas ( 16W ( 11 Kos ) – 1 L ) clashes with Darryl Pucdol of RWS Stable of Cebu.
Other fights will be between promising South Korean flyweight Jonghwa Lee under SGG promotional outfit who is undefeated with a record of 7-0-1 with 1 knockout. An excellent boxer, boxer Lee faces Erwin Pulvera. Junior flyweight Jheter Oliva from General Santos City will take on Jerome Buntog while super bantamweight Richie Abapo of Talisay City clashes with Brian Inihaw.
